We all have them. Consciously and unconsciously we are always in a state of "dreaming". Our thoughts, or what we visualize for ourselves, are our dreams. The only difference between a dream and reality is that our dreams have no limitations. Our reality seems to be bogged down by our story, or the limiting beliefs we have about ourselves. Once we realize our story does not define us, we can move forward with making our dreams become a reality.
The first step in ridding ourselves from that which blocks us, is to surround yourself with positive people. When you choose to be around people who are like you, you tend to attract opportunities or connections that will help get you to that next level of achieving your dreams. When you're constantly around people who don't have dreams, or are in a constant state of blaming and complaining, you pick up on those habits. You may not realize it, but just as people can't change you, they can certainly influence you. They don't call it peer pressure for nothin'. As Joel Osteen says, you need to surround yourself with people that are for you, not just with you.
The second step to achieving our dreams is to change our thoughts. In some way, shape, or form, our thoughts come to life. What we think about, we bring about. How we see ourselves is how the world will see us. And once you change your thoughts, you change your life. If we didn't have the power to change our thoughts, Oprah would never be where she is today. In fact, she thought of herself as something much greater than what others had told her. She changed her thoughts and by God did she change her life.
Step three is to recognize that our biography does not define us. (Thank you Tony Robbins for the breakthrough). A lot of us have a habit of living in the past, or the future. The thing about the past is that it's literally a figment of our imagination. What's so wonderful about the future is that it doesn't exist yet, there's still time for you to create a future because it hasn't happened. Where we came from is not who we are. What we experienced is not who we are. Who we are right now, in this very moment, is who we are. The good news is if you don't like who you are, you can change right now.
The final step in making your dreams come true is to take action. Fear plays a big role in preventing us from taking action. We are afraid that if we do take action we may fail, but guess what? It is impossible to fail. As Wayne Dyer puts it, "You can never fail, you can only produce results". If you don't like the results, you can change what you're doing in hopes of producing the results you want. Oftentimes the first thing you need to do when achieving your dreams is to research. Research your idea/topic, find out what others before you have done. Don't reinvent the wheel, follow in someone's footsteps. They paved the way, now it's your time to finish it. After your research, you can take literal action and purchase what you need, contact those worth contacting, so on and so forth. Now, just because you do these steps does not mean your dreams will come true overnight. In order to brand yourself or your idea it takes time. Sometimes taking action means to simply observe. Observe without being too critical of your progress. Maybe you could change a few things here and there, maybe you're missing something, or maybe things are just perfect the way they are and you just need to sit back and let your idea flourish.
If you're positive, passionate, and patient, your dream will come to pass. After all, Rome wasn't built in a day.
Dreams do come true~
